Crystal Yauger knows the value of hustle. Fed up with her job, Crystal decided it was time to continue the family tradition and start doing what she was born to do—nursing.
“I enrolled in school and was determined to get a job at Westover,” she explains. “I knew it was the place I wanted to work because of its great reputation.”
Six months after earning her LPN, she got the call she had been waiting for and accepted a position as a night shift nurse at Westover Retirement Community’s rehab center. For four years, she gave it her all and decided she was ready for more.
“I had a lot of great mentors here who pushed me to be better personally and professionally,” she explains. “When I decided to go back to school to be an RN, Community First Solutions was very supportive. They moved me up to the day shift so I would be able to work and get my degree.”
After earning her RN, Crystal took over the floating manager position and worked at Jamestowne, Westover, and Berkeley Square. She then applied for the open Director of Nursing position at Berkeley Square.
Miranda Sitchanoff, Assistant Vice President of Health Services at Community First Solutions, was extremely proud to see all the strong internal candidates who applied for the Director of Nursing position
“I really love to support growth in all our nurses here and promote internally whenever I can,” says Miranda. “Crystal is smart, driven, and worked hard to rise through this company. Her journey is something to be proud of.”
Climbing this high still feels a little surreal to Crystal.
“I started here as a night shift nurse,” she says. “Seven years later, I’m the Director of Nursing at Berkeley Square. I really feel like I am a perfect example of how much you can grow working at Community First.”
