As we celebrate our decades worth of community impact, we also honor our longest-serving leader Jeff Thurman who is retiring after 40 years of service. Since 1978, when he stepped onto the campus of Westover Retirement Community with a vision to transform the small community of 70 residents, he has been championing innovation and growth.
That one community evolved into one of the largest not-for-profit organizations in Butler County, which now operates two top-rated life plan communities providing a scope of residential options from independent living to healthcare, a top-rated post-acute rehabilitation center, a not-for-profit pharmacy, two wellness centers, a network of in-home health services, a fleet of vehicles that provide necessary transportation and food to people in need, a preschool, and a restaurant.
Building upon its heritage of strong leadership, Community First's new President and Chief Executive Officer Brett Krikpatrick says he looks forward to connecting with people, and furthering the mission of the organization. Brett, who shares Jeff's fervor, tenacity, and vision, will be supported by the continued governance of the Community First Solutions board of community-based volunteers.
"I am excited about the opportunity to build upon 100 years of success," says Brett. "I've spent the vast majority of leadership tenure within the post-acute environment and have a deep passion for this area. The wide spectrum of services and the organization's commitment to meeting the needs of our community clearly show Community First's dedication and how well positioned they are for the changing healthcare environment."
"Brett has a unique combination of proven healthcare and leadership expertise, commitment to quality and passion for serving people that both fit the expectations of the position, and the culture of Community First," said Board Chair Neil Cohen.
Kirkpatrick will lead the organization well into its next 100 years, Thurman says. "His commitment to serving the community, and his breadth of expertise in our diverse service areas, will drive the continued growth of the organization," he says, "Brett truly understands the importance of supporting the ongoing revitalization of Hamilton, and the connectivity between the growth of our community and the growth of our mission."
